You could save around £137 a year in electricity bills if you replace an old appliance. This figure was calculated through a 3 week test that was carried out when a couple had their 10 year+ fridge freezer replaced with an A++ model. A++ appliances consume 30% less energy than A+-labelled appliances, and 45% less than A-labelled ones. This change could easily recoup the cost of a new appliance over just 3 years, plus a quick and easy way to save money and save the environment. See Time to Change online for more information.
Refrigerators, freezers and combined fridge-freezers are second only to central heating for domestic power consumption. According to the Energy Savings Trust, if every U.K. household upgraded to a fridge-freezer carrying their “Energy Efficiency Recommended” logo then electricity output equivalent to 2 power stations would be saved every year.
We can recommend Siemens who have two A++ rated fridge freezers, one static (KG36VX47GB) and one built in (KI38SA60) , both received the Siemens Gold Award for best energy efficiency.
